  1. Price of Pelikan ink is now $4.80 at Popular! Colors were limited - only 3 to choose from: Brilliant Black, Royal Blue and Blue-Black.

    1. Wow! Mustafa is comparably cheaper! Any idea what colours they carry? (the last time I was there, they only had Royal Blue) Would be interested to know if they brought in any new stock/colours! Thanks for letting us know.

  2. I should have mentioned I went to the one at Toa Payoh HDB Hub to get the Pelikan Ink. There was also Parker Quink that was going for $11.

    1. Thanks for the update! Really appreciate it =) Looks like Popular has increased their prices. I would suggest going to Art Friend in Bras Basar then, since its now cheaper, and the last time I went, they had a good stock of Violet, Turquoise and Red too!

    2. Not sure how relevant this would be, but last week when I dropped by Art Friend, Pelikan ink was around $5 and the selection was pretty limited. If you have a Popular's member card, then Popular can work out to be much cheaper- it is about $4.80 without discount.

  3. DuYi has closed its outlet at Chinatown Point. Go to People's Park Complex to get HERO ink. There are only 2 colors available - #233 (Blue) and #234 (Carbon Black). And the price has increased to $2.40 (still the cheapest ink around). Anyway I got my HERO 9296 and tried it with #233 Blue ink.. Very pleased with HERO. Goodbye Pental EnerGel pens, et al. I am switching over to fountain pens... back to nostalgia.

    1. Yeah I was terribly said to hear about the closure of Du Yi at Chinatown Point. Good to hear that you are transitioning back to fountain pens! I have found that the HERO 233 Blue Ink does fade in colour over time, turning from a dark blue to a very pale light blue. Do be mindful if you are using them to write something important! I find the carbon black inks are still the best!

  4. Do you know of any great websites that sell fountain pen ink, preferably in bottles, at a good price other than GouletPenCo.? I'm using your method of Preppy Pen-Eyedropper conversion, and now I just need some ink!

    1. If you in Singapore, try Straitspen.com
Their website shows a wide range of inks and the postal charges seem reasonable. I am thinking of ordering from them, but perhaps I will make my way down to the Bras Basah and check out the ink supplies there.

    2. Hey there! I am so pleased and think its wonderful that you are using plumbers tape for your Platinum Preppy's!

I honestly don't know of other good inks (or websites where you can buy them from) which come in eyedropper bottles besides Noodler's inks.

For filling eyedropper pens, I currently use (if its from a non-eyedropper bottled ink) a syringe or a cheap plastic eyedroppers (see my Pens Collection page for a sample), which you can pick up from Daiso at $2 for a pack of 5 - 6.

I have acquired some recycled eyedropper bottles (from my wife's cosmetics collection and from other Daler Rowney acrylic inks), and filled them up with other brand inks (e.g. Pelikan 4001 inks).

Lastly, I do agree with AC that straitspen.com is a great place to buy inks locally (it is a local website) at very reasonable prices. I do hope this helps! All the best!

  5. Hello, I came across your blog and am totally new to fountain pens. My son is gonna start using fountain pens soon so am looking for one cheaply, he is only 10, and needs to learn to care for it responsibly! Would u happen to know a decent cheap fountain pen suitable for a kid, preferably where he can try before purchase? Thanks much!
